Mr. Wrestling 2 is the only correct answer.

The Young Bucks are sending out tweets of them on a plane with Kenny Omega and saying that wherever Kenny goes, they go.
If I were in AEW management, I’d be kind of pissed about people I’ve suspended turning the situation into a rah-rah. But AEW isn’t professional, so it may mean nothing. |

It’s possible a Matt Jackson alt though. Here’s hoping The Bucks and Omega got their number called and were offered a chance to leave.

to the rocks promotion. that's where everyone is going these days.

got that from the meltZ

Sounds good. I’m gonna jump on that story and run with it because it fits my narrative. I’m all in on Rock’s promotion.

I blame the downfall of AEW on Jacksonville Jags doing decent. They should drop that futball club and Tony should get some non fan boi staff. There. I said it.
|
I don't know.
If I am Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks and I've been given contracts and EVP status to run certain and particular things within this new upstart company and I do that successfully for 2-3 years... then my boss hires an older wrestler to a BIG money contract (possibly more than them) and then this independant contractor whose been around for 6 months then got injured, returns and comes back and begins to take liberties and shit goes down and my boss does not have my back. FUCK THAT! I'd walk. |
Did they do it successfully though? Did they really?
I do get that it’s frustrating when someone comes in and is a threat because they can do this shit better than you and they have ideas for improving the company and your little vanity project is exposed though. |

I'm not surprised at this point. They're mostly going into buildings they were already in earlier in the year, and the booking has taken a significant downturn since their last visit.
With the booking as it is now, I don't blame anyone for not wanting to buy tickets without having a card. Most Dynamites are not a Grand Slam deal where you know they're gonna stack it. |
I skipped on Bridgeport tickets for the same reason. It's the go-home show before Full Gear. What's the betting most of the big names DON'T wrestle?
If the card ends up looking good, I can buy a cheap seat a day or two before. But I see no reason to pay full price to lock down great seats for a show that could very easily be skippable. |
i am skipping the thanksgiving dynamite knowing it will probably be a dud. unless my friend buys me a ticket like last year. i'll go for free.

Seriously, we all want an alternative. I’ve been down on AEW longer than most, granted, but everyone wants wrestling to be better.
|
Also, lol at Meltzer — you don’t need to have Rampage in your country to know it’s the drizzling shits.
|
Sure ya don't ;)
I bet you wouldn't wanna honk Toni Storm's titties either eh? Seriously though, it's always been this way, it was just the "new car smell" that was blocking a lotta bad outta people's minds. I've loosely watched it from the start, and they occasionally do have some bangers, but there seems to be zero consistency and WTF bookings. They fix those two issues, they'll be okay. |

Pretty clear AEW's been on a downward trend this year. I might not be quite as down on it as many on this board (Dynamite sucked this week though) but it's noticeably worse. Khan's worst booking tendencies are never reigned in. |
Quote:
Look at Arther Ashe last year, they drew 5000+ more people. Just because they are price gouging their most loyal fans does not mean the business is growing. Yes, the purpose is to make money, but AEW hypes the gate gross, but gross doesn't mean anything. Even with a higher gross and 5000 less fans, did they Net more than last year's Arthur Ashe? Did they Net anything? How many new people have been added to the payroll since last year? AEW's payroll in 2022 is certainly higher than it was in 2021. Tiny said last Arthur Ashe was close to a million, how close? How much above that mark was this year's show? 5000 less fans. Much higher payroll. Grossed maybe $100,000 more. For a guy who is ALL about numbers and stats, he sure expects everybody to ignore basic metrics so he can pretend to his daddy that he is a good businessman. |
Since they're going to Seattle for the January 4 Dynamite, what they really ought to do is hit up Portland for January 11 and Vancouver on January 18th.
If the main reason behind their lack of West trips is logistics, it makes sense to hit up the northwest while they're already up there. Find a place around there to store the equipment so you don't have to schlep it back to Florida every week. Gets you 3 potential new markets you're visiting, hopefully 3 nice gates, and also helps with the issue they've run into of running the same places too close together. There might be more "major" towns in the east but they are so close together you're drawing from essentially the same audience. A Baltimore audience is weakened by DC and Philly shows. NYC/Long Island/Newark will mostly have the same audience, etc. When you burn out friggin Chicago from visiting too often, you're doing something wrong. |
Quote:
|
the fact that i missed all out this year and had no problem with that when the year before was one of the hottest wrestling shows i've been to is wild
|
I don’t understand why they don’t go to other markets? Go to like the same 7 places..
|
i understood the reliance on chicago at the beginning because it's a solid wrestling area in a centralized location with a major transport hub that people from all over can come through. you can count on chicago itself to buy tickets and show up. but when i heard the rumors earlier this year that maybe all out was going to be in toronto i was actually relieved. the only reason i want them to keep running all out in hoffman estates is that gcw runs their weekend of shows, and that is fun.
|
Quote:
So then I figured it had to be a matter of logistics. Which, fair....moving a ton of equipment, rigging etc gets expensive if you have to bring it back to the Florida hub every week. But that's why you need to invest in getting some form of storage facility in each region so you can do loops out there instead of visiting the same places in perpetuity. |
I am just going to pat myself on the back for this one

AEW has always sucked. I can’t confirm if it’s gotten worse or not, but coasting on not being WWE was always going to wear thin at some point.
|
Run whatever markets you want. The same fans who liked this shit then like it now — well, even less. It’s a band-aid on the problem of them sucking.
|
Just a reminder: They pulled PAC vs. Page from their first show because they didn’t know how to get around PAC being champion of a Japanese indy promotion. Their first match was a Battle Royal that featured Glacier competing for a World Title shot.
They had Adam Page and Kip Sabian go 20 minutes on PPV and had a three-way match for a shot at getting a bye in a tournament (what?). They also had Street Fighter moves sold in the main event of a show. And Marko Stunt open one. This is all before they got to television. They are arrogant assholes who do not care about insulting the intelligence or sensibilities of the viewer. |
lol Dynamite getting a 15 minute overrun next week. Queue the hype machine.
Also wtf we just had Grand Slam and now its already Battle of the Belts Rampage next week. Ridiculous. |
They hit the “special shows” a lot because they’re desperate.

To WWE Fans "Tribalism in Wrestling is weird"
To AEW Fans "YAY NOW I HAVE A BOSS WHO LISTENS, FEDBAD LOVEME!!!!!" |
Battle of the belts is a weak show and they killed it by not running Page v Danielson on it the first time to make it feel important.
AEW ignoring the entire west coast is why their attendance sucks. They’ve had one California show. You’d think, like Vito said, they’d just do a tour of the area. California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, etc. You can’t create demand for your product if your product is regularly and routinely available. Also, Tony needs a booking team. Identify the guys you want featured, the guys you want elevated, and the guys who do the jobs and let the coaches help line up the stories. Feels like the minute Page won the world title, the long term booking took a shit. There wasn’t any clear next in line champion, so they did a face v face angle to get the belt to Punk, when in reality it should’ve been MJF being next in line followed by his story with Punk. Hindsight is 50/50 I know but Punk’s first title win should’ve been in Chicago 1 year after he returned. |
Quote:
|
I never thought Punk needed the belt. Thought it suited Danielson more. Punk was coming back because a spark had been re-ignited. I bought him having matches with guys like Darby Allin and MJF to take them to the next level. Danielson was already a main event level wrestler. He should have come to AEW for the gold.
|
Danielson should have beaten Omega. Page could have gone to draws with him and the like.
|
People can rip on Jericho being ROH champ all they want, but that title hasn't been this interesting in over a decade.
|
It hasn’t been this interesting, but it isn’t that interesting.

* Alex Reynolds * Alex Shelley * Andrade El Idolo * Brody King * Buddy Matthews * Cash Wheeler * Chris Sabin * CM Punk * Dante Martin * Darby Allin * Dax Harwood * Hikaru Shida * Jade Cargill * Jamie Hayter * John Silver * Kenny Omega * Malakai Black * Matt Jackson * Miro * Nick Jackson * Rush * Sting |

To be fair, these auxiliary deals could be conducted completely independently. Cutting AEW in Latin American countries could be a logical insular move. But it’s crazy how people are trying to push this to the side like it isn’t a bad thing, or that it isn’t indicative of AEW’s declining (or just consistently too low) popularity. This thing ain’t hot sauce.
|
The latest tactic seems to be attacking people who are reporting this with projections of doomsaying and a penchant for conspiracies.
“Ooh, the sky is falling! AEW is going to be dead guys! Warner Bros Discovery hates AEW! You read it here first!” I’m glad those voices have largely been silenced on here, because that’s disingenuous. |

Wait a minute: Preston Vance just dedicated a match he is going to lose to Brodie Lee.
|
And Jericho is doing press, which is always embarrassing.
|
Remember when we all respected Jericho? I don't think you can take away from his body of work at all--IMO he's earned his status. But dear god what a fucking goof.
|
I think he’s tarnishing his rep slightly. It’s crazy what the internet thinking you’re a good wrestler will do for excuse-making. His 2008 work was really good. I don’t think he can damage that. Stuff like 1998 Jericho is becoming harder for me to go back and enjoy because it’s just so self-indulgent and I can see where it’s leading.
There’s talent there, but he’s an overrated blow-hard that needed to cling to wrestling because he couldn’t get into the mainstream. |
Say what you want about Jericho, but in terms of main eventing Wrestlemania...
Jericho - 1 Phil - 0 :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: |
Yeah, but that main event was a dud. And we used to look the other way on Jericho’s involvement in it, but he did kind of stink out the joint for a long time there.
|
Wasn't a huge fan of face Y2J Jericho.... Heel Jericho has always been great...
|
It doesn’t make sense that Jericho is allowed to just run roughshod over non-wrestling personnel. Wouldn’t Tony Khan just strip him of the belt? Why wouldn’t some babyfaces stand up to Jericho? Samoa Joe is not only a former ROH World Champ, but he’s also the current TV Champ. With Jericho saying he’s going to take a massive dump over ROH, why wouldn’t Joe just say “hold my beer” and go and choke out Jericho?
Plus, the current thing is that Joe and Wardlow are buddies. Wardlow is also buddies with FTR, who are the ROH Tag Champs. Wardlow also hates Chris Jericho. So why wouldn’t Joe, Wardlow & FTR all march to the ring with The BCC and stomp the shit out of Jericho and his lackeys? The faces are going to be lining up like a cartoon villain’s henchmen and getting knocked out by Jericho because…they’re stupid? They’re scared of him? This is burying everyone lol. |
Jericho as ROH Champion could be the best thing for the belt. He’s kind of the perfect choice for a weasel to hide behind the belt and also act like he’s a big shot as the champion of a dead promotion that is eventually forced to defend the belt against someone who is going to bring life to it. I imagine the end bit is how Jericho has sold him stomping out everyone, but he’s shitting on everything and everyone in the meantime.
Danielson should want to wrestle Chris Jericho, not the other way round. |
Ah, I think I know what is going to happen in Andrade/Vance:
Vance is going to win. They can’t be stupid enough to have Vance lose in a match dedicated to Brodie Lee and not have Andrade leave after he’s talked the trash. They’re counting on Andrade needing to jump through hoops and be a good boy because they’re hiding behind Brodie. He wouldn’t dare bury a guy on the way out in a Brodie segment. Right? Andrade probably has an NDA attached. Vance will unmask on Dynamite willingly because Brodie always told him he would know when the time was right. |
Lol, Meltzer is trying to spin AEW being dropped across Latin America as a good thing and their choice.

LOL people were speculating Sammy was talking about Shawn Spears, and that he was on his way out of AEW. Kind of funny it was Andrade out of nowhere, but it is always the same people.
Eddie Kingston and Sammy both seem to cause WAY more drama than they are worth. At this point, AEW has likely already got the most they were going to get out of either, but Tiny will not take any real action like always (unless either was black, then they would be gone real quick). |
