I don't think its that unpopular.
|
I follow quite a few folks on Twitter who aren't too keen on Omega and the Bucks.
|
Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s unpopular on here. Probably about 80% of posters here liked them 5 years ago. Now I’d say it’s probably like, a third of the posters we have left if that. With the Bucks probably still being considerably more disliked than Kenny.
I’m still a fan of them, Kenny especially. But I don’t need to see them every week, either. |
Kenny hasn't shown me anything nearly as good as his work in japan besides the danielson match.
Likewise, the only time I've ever cared for the young bucks was the breif period they wrestled in the heavyweight tag division of njpw and actually slowed the fuck down enough to work a little bit instead of their usual spotfests. |
They’ve always sucked. The Bucks were comedy when they tried to wrestle seriously in Japan. Omega was a product of the company. His faces have always been annoying and his matches overwrought.
|
Love Kenny, have always disliked The Bucks. Their theme is great, though.
|
I like Omega and enjoyed his heel run with Callis.
The Bucks are whatever. |
Can take ‘em or leave ‘em.
|
Remember that video game they spent $50 million on? Well apparently it is getting released as a free to play game on XBox Gamepass. AEW keeps RAKING in the money :rofl::rofl:
|
That’s obviously because the game is so good that Microsoft just wants everybody to be able to play it.

A big green one, for $14.99/month.
Take that Twitter! |
I really don't like AEW anymore. We're at the point where WWE was at a few years ago, the booking has no through line to the end. Stories don't matter, most things don't matter. It's very unstable creatively and I don't have the patience to sit through them trying to figure it out.
There are a hundred threads you can go on the describe why AEW sucks now, Cody leaving, too many hires, The Elite/Punk issues, the Elite issues in general, no follow through on big hires such as Miro, Allister, Andrade and that's just three from over a year ago now. You can site the failure of Hangman in becoming a top guy for CM Punk to get a failure of a title run, the use of terrible female talent, Vince Russo style booking with no substance. Just really unbelievable what it's all gone down to. We're at Jeff Jarrett now. Now understand, I do really like Jeff, he's a great talent and he's such a great guy, I love him on his podcast. It's a real eye opener on the business and his impact on it. But, AEW should have been better than this. There should have been a standard. Perhaps if Jeff was someone they were working with a few years ago it would be different. But he's just been fired from WWE, released, whatever. He's just another WWE cast off slurped up by Tony's fandom. I am kind of torn. Jarrett was awesome in the main event with Flair this summer. He can probably do some really good stuff still in the ring, his style is one of a kind at this point so he's going to really mesh well with about anyone in AEW. But it's just like a standard that I am having trouble accepting. If Jeff is able to fill a void that perhaps Cody left, then sure I really do get this hire. He's got the most history of anyone in the business, in the business. Really though to be honest, I'm just over AEW right now. Wednesday I may check it out at some point but I think that Sammy Guevara is wrestling Danielson and that sounds terrible to me. Ethan Page vs Kingston could be good and could elevate Ethan Page but I have a feeling that this journey for Page isn't going to go the way Tony wants it to. Ethan is getting a rub because he's MJF's buddy in real life. Page and MJF are actually almost the same person/character. There is very little that is different between them as performers, except that MJF is probably just a bit better, maybe not in the ring but as a character 100%. I think MJF probably made sure that Ethan got a rub and a push as apart of his negotiations with Tony. It does seem that they are turning MJF face, and elevating Ethan to a top heel position. I just wonder if Ethan would be able to be WORSE a heel than MJF. It could be an interesting story if they can really get Ethan to a level where fans see him as an event bigger piece of shit than MJF ever was as a heel. |
Honestly, I'd love for the WWE games to do this, or have a god damn playable demo.
Last WWE Game I bought was the one with the Ric Flair collectibles, and I shelled out for the collectors edition. Never finished "showcase mode" (main "story mode") because it was fucking terrible. Can't recall if that's the one where you're CAW was called "buzz" because there was a "buzz about a new up and coming superstar". Terrible. I've heard great things about WWE2K22 - but I will not spend more than $10 to buy it. If they released on Gamepass, it'd be wildly more successful because there's a massive cheaper barrier for entry AND you get "hands-on" experience. |
AEW on Gamepass is fantastic news for me. I likely would have never played it otherwise.
|
Quote:
They've always needed a "Jarrett" or someone with knowledge in the business. Jarrett CAN potentially make things better, but it will come down to how much TK will value and allow for input//control. This "era", if you will, I believe will make or break AEW further than it already has. |
I have little faith from what we know of Tony that he will let anyone really have a voice on the product. I don't mean that the wrestlers don't get their own voice I just mean, another "Creative".
|
Again not to say that I don't think guys like Jericho, Danielson, Mox, The Elite etc... don't get to do what they want I'm just talking about another person to have the power of yay or nay on things.

Exactly this, now multiply it. Honestly, I'm not a fiercely loyal interneckbeard who hates a company over whatever has transpired with AEW. Their game looks FUN and if it calls back to a similar play style of the N64 days, they will be successful. Gamers have more hand-holding than EVER with games, and a "simplifying" of the system will be a warm welcome for those who have only had WWE games to play for the last..... forever. PC gamers get FirePro, which Fignuts is the uWu Champion of, true story, but it doesn't carry the "mainstream" appeal a console wrestling game will have (insofar as wrestling can be mainstream). |
Can we please have more contoured meat flaps for our boy Jordan AEW?
Someone DM Nyla Rose for him. |
BTW very upset we never got the pay off big match with Chavo vs Nyla Rose. Bullshit.

I worry that large segments of the AEW crowd aren't mentally prepared for the reality of Page beating Eddie. Everyone is hung up on the idea of Eddie finally winning the big one and, truth is, if he ever actually does win it I'd assume he's dropping it back instantly. The whole thing with him is the chase will probably always be his story. So that makes him an easy foil for a heel in a tourney like this. Page will then go over Bandido, still an unknown commodity to some of the AEW fanbase. Not much to say there, would probably be a solid showing for both. Could even have a sub-plot where Bandido says if he wins the tourney, he'd use it on the ROH Title instead. But we know he won't win. And then Page goes over one more popular face in Starks, another guy fans are ready to see go to the "next level". Starks, at least, will have some protection in defeat because a big part of his journey would be that he had to go through 2 wars against big dudes Archer and Cage to get there, making him slightly easier pickings for Page. I think much of the fans online believe Page has been underutilized and deserves a push. And so maybe the thinking is the best way to ensure he actually gets heel heat is to put him over 2 incredibly popular guys in Eddie and Starks. It'll get him heat sure, but will the heat be for Page or will it be for the office? |
Guys, the game is a write-off. Accept it.
|
Kingston’s chance to run the big one came and went with the interim stuff. Ethan Page should absolutely go over him as he’s been due for some much needed spotlight and a push.
|
The Full Gear card looks fucking awful, even for an AEW card. Toni Storm isn’t very good, but I guess you could say her defending her fake championship against Jamie Hayter is at least something fresh. I wonder if MJF gets blamed for the buyrate?
He’s got one foot out the door already, having been casted in the Von Erich movie. |

Again, it is not the fact that the game is on gamepass exactly, it is that for over a year they were overhyping how many copies they would sell, and turn a huge profit.
Then suddenly, we are supposed to believe AEW decided this was better? Microsoft paid $5 million to get a Marvel game on gamepass earlier this year. Are we to believe AEW demands a higher pricetag than a Marvel franchise? What world are we living in  |
Marvels Avenger was a failed game Square couldnt even give away. They had to sell all their US studios in an effort to recover their losses. Guardians also was a commercial failure for Square. These wouldnt be very pricey to get on gamepass a year + after launch in Avengers case and 6 month in Guardians case.
|
Clearly you're out of your depth on this one. This is becoming an industry norm as Microsoft tries to build its "netflix for gaming." Its great deal for developers at microsofts expense. Take the L on this one. Its a good deal.

How big is the potential customer base for this game, and a better question would be what percentage of those potential customers are subscribers to game pass? That to me says they don't have confidence they will make their investment back, that there is not as much demand as they sold Shad on, and are just trying to recoup whatever they can. |
Oh gosh…
|
More people will be play this game since its on game pass. It will make more money since its on game pass.
|
Microsoft is trying to walmart the gaming the industry. Theyre paying over market prices to shrink competition market shares. Its an aggressive strategy that they can afford and in 15 years will probably win out. I get you want to dunk on aew. You dont know enough about this topic to talk about it. Just let this one be.
|
And as far a non game pass users: its not game pass exclusive. You can still buy this outside of gamepass. You can still get it on non Microsoft platforms
|
And it should be noted this is an if. If purely rumor this is going to gamepass. But if it does its good for them not bad
|
Im not trying to shit on you. This is a bad take.

Because none of that matters? It's entirely possible they wanted to get it onto gamepass from the start. But no developer ever publically announces "By the way everyone, we'd really like for this to be on gamepass". You never talk about things during development that aren't 100% set in stone. If you don't believe me, ask Sean Murray how that worked out for him. |
GamePass is obviously a marketing strategy from Microsoft, but you’ve got to get a good chunk of money back, or recoup it somehow. You might get away with taking an L if it builds awareness for you.
This wasn’t going to do that. The game has been in production for over 3 years, has seen a change of head developer and basically had the team come out and apologize before it even hits market. I don’t know if I believe the $80 million number, but I do believe the story that it is severely over budget with no realistic way to make money back. It isn’t going to GamePass anyway. It’s going to bomb in stores. |
It's a niche game in a niche genre, so unless it did well while having a super low budget, it was always going to lose money.
It was more of a passion project from the start. With the heavy inspiration from the n64 era games, I would think it's also intended to get more people interested in AEW as well. |
Are you all going to admit it when it sucks? Omega has designed The Homer.
|
I know people are nostalgic for WWF No Mercy. When it came out, it was cutting edge. It pushed the N64 as far as it could go with wrestling games. It had an impressively comprehensive roster and fleshed out their movesets. It was also cooler to play with your friends because wrestling was hot.
Those circumstances aren’t replicable. The N64 is not cutting edge technology anymore. Wrestling is less popular than its ever been. The roster is not comprehensive. It’s likely going to be years out of date. Hell, the guy on the cover joined the company two years into development and is already gone before release. The commands might be similar to what you liked, but it’s going to feel outmoded and clunky compared to how guys work in 2022. Each guy has 8 basic moves? Each guy does more than that every match they have. The answer to chasing this dragon isn’t a mini-game where you input button commands to get your character’s avatar to do the YMCA ffs. If you’ve got room to do that, put some more effort into your fucking roster. You can’t even replicate the Stadium Stampede match if you wanted to. Over half Jericho’s team isn’t in the game. |
It was fun and simple to play. Everything else is hard reaching to justify a poor take on something because of an association with AEW.
if I do play it and it sucks, I'll be the first to admit it, because of it being a bad game. I would love for WWE to put one of their new games on GamePass. If it played well, I'd buy it. But no playable demo, no $$$$. It'll be the same for this game, GamePass or no. |

Masked singer must really be desperate if they're starting to recruit actual singers.

lol, go listen to the clues that character gave in their little hint interview or whatever. Said he has smashed a rock. A globe with a crown was held up. Said he has a rugged personality and lives on the road selling out arenas. He has an appetite for destroying things. Notorious for being in some of the messiest feuds. One of the extras then holds a gold oval with music notes on it over his waist like a belt buckle. Oh and the last clue was a goat wearing a medal around its neck that said ACTION HERO.

It’s going to be hilarious if he’s revealed as “Former WWE Superstar” Chris Jericho.

Ethan Page's Twitter has been hacked and the asshole who did it is posting the most awful shit.
Unfortunately, probably gonna be a recurring theme in the new Twitter world. |
Lol, Saraya posted her medical certificate online and the place got her birth year wrong.
It also didn’t have a date of issue. |
I hope she doesn’t get crippled in an AEW ring.

Most Americans are off work that Friday so it's probably less bad than a normal Friday, but it's still not great.
|
Just learned that we are NOT off on Friday this year. Seems dumb. The majority of staff will just schedule PTO, there will be change freezes and stocks don't trade.......
Another stupid ass social construct we are expected to follow. |
I've only worked at one company that was open on Black Friday. I had to go in because I was too new to accrue time off, but the place was an absolute ghost town. Even the lab where the manufacturers were. Felt like a big waste of time.
Every other place has had it as a day off, usually in exchange for not having off Veterans Day. Hell this year my place gave up Columbus Day in order to have the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off too. 5 day weekend? Hell yeah. |
I really can't see how Saraya's return match is going to be anything but underwhelming.
She was good, to a given value of "good", when expectations were much lower and women's wrestling on TV wasn't treated as anything more than a piss break. She's apparently admitted to not watching AEW, and parts of her promo at Britt seemed to basically say that she's never achieved anything and isn't good enough to carry a division, which is akin to CM Punk at the All Out press conference burying Hangman Page (and AEW by association) by saying that a former world champion had "never done anything in this business". That, to me, tells me that she's going to walk in and be, at best, the level she was at when she retired, and expect plaudits and praise only to be frustrated when she doesn't get it. I don't think she realized that mainstream women's wrestling in the US has moved on leaps and bounds she was last in the ring, and that expectations are higher. She can't afford to be as good as she actually was, she has to be as good as people remember her being. |
Britt isn’t exactly a ring general either. But they needed a marquee match for Saraya returning and Britt was it. I expect it to be a decent match. Depending on where it’s placed on the card the crowd might help elevate it.
|
I don't trust Saraya to work safe in regards to her own health. She is the female Bryan Danielson. How long before she is injured off camera in a stupid 10 person Stadium Stampede or Anarchy in the Arena match?
We already know Tiny does not have the stones to say no to one of his wrestling toys. |

So I heard the Saraya promo from Dynamite. She’s obviously trying to appeal to smarks. Jokes about the AEW product aside, this is probably not the best approach. She ends up fighting with these people all the time on social media. They’re the sort of people who know she never wrestled in the Tokyo Dome.
She talks about how hard she’s worked all over the place because she loves it. She’s not fucking Chris Benoit or Eddie Guerrero. She’s not going to get over on that or because of her work. She isn’t very good lol. It also makes a horrible promo for a casual fan. She just rattled off a bunch of angry shit and some places or events (you’d presume). She’s using jargon that doesn’t mean anything to your average person, and also buried the company just like Adam Page or CM Punk did. I’m worried she’s fried her brain either because of drugs or trauma. |

I'll just leave this here because I quite frankly have always found AEW's continued use of Mike Tyson to be disgusting. |
