2001 Space Odyssey + Blair Witch + Paranormal Activity + Close Encounters + Afghanistan = This movie.
The only clues I can give you when watching this is the presence of triangular shapes that look like
portals or stargates and I saw people crossing over to that shape and they vanished into thin air.
The scenes may be a bit dragging but the 2nd half was intense.
The ending reminded me alot of the Exorcist and the 4th Kind
IMDB comments kept theorizing of those bright orb lights the marines saw like
some kind of DJINN beings.
And they even theorized something along the lines of this one:
