If Christian knew when Edge was planning to retire, it makes sense for him to keep his AEW deal limited. That way, barring any injury or premature retirement could line up Christian’s AEW deal expiring with Edge’s final year.

Tony seems to sign people to 3, 4 or even 5 yr deals, but Christian’s age, stature and history of injury might have made bargaining for a 2-yr commitment possible.
